Google is challenging communities to “Think Big with a Gig.” If selected, Gainesville will have networks that deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today. Gainesville was one of hundreds of cities throughout the United States that responded to Google's challenge. Gainesville residents submitted videos telling Google how our city would use ultra high-speed bandwidth networks. Nearly 8,500 people showed their support for Gainesville through Gig4GNV's Facebook group. Google ended the challenge on March 26 and will announce its selected community or communities before the end of the year, but there is still a lot to learn and do!
