Momentum 2015 is the next capital campaign for the Council for Economic Outreach.
On Dec. 1, CEO officially launched the five-year economic and community development campaign for Gainesville/Alachua County. Momentum 2015 aims to build upon CEO’s successes with its last campaign, Opportunity 2010, to create an environment in which our businesses continue to thrive.
The new campaign will focus on one of the most important outcomes of Opportunity 2010: Innovation Gainesville, a model of collaboration that has brought an unprecedented approach to transform Gainesville’s economy by connecting our community’s vast resources. iG and Momentum 2015 will transform the way Gainesville/Alachua County recruits new business and expands and grows our own tremendous talent and resources.
“In today’s competition for new business, we can’t just sit back and wait for success to come our way,” said Brian Hutchison, RTI Biologics CEO. “Momentum 2015 will enable us to pursue those high-tech companies that will complement our existing businesses and make a significant difference in the Gainesville/Alachua County economy and quality of life.”
Momentum 2015 focuses on three main areas of economic development: Growing Our Own, Expansion and Retention of Existing Business and the Marketing and Attraction of New Business. By focusing on these three areas of our economy, CEO hopes to help create 400 new jobs, expand and retain 400 jobs in the community and to bring 400 jobs to the area through new businesses.
Under the leadership of campaign chairs Tom Mallini, M & S Bank president, and Win Phillips, University of Florida vice president of research, Momentum 2015 is ready to meet all goals set out by CEO investors and to continue making Gainesville/Alachua County a leader in economic development.
